David Aguilar Rodríguez is the founder of Next Level College Prep––your resource for admissions tutoring tailored to the individual student's needs. David's passion is making college dreams come true! Having earned perfect scores on the ACT and SAT, David empowers his students to maximize their own results. He also has expertise with the college application process. David uses his unique background working in the Harvard Office of Career Services and as a professional Hollywood screenwriter to help students craft essays that stand out in a crowded field.

David has a personal 100% success rate when it comes to college applications. He was accepted by every school to which he applied, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Southern California. David ultimately attended Harvard University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

With years of experience as a tutor in one-on-one and group settings, David provides students with personalized testing strategies, time management hacks, and helpful tips for overcoming test anxiety. But test scores are only half the battle. Application essays are the other part of the admissions equation. After earning his degree, David worked for Harvard, where he guided students through the scholarship application process. In this role, he honed his skills in student advising, essay writing, and crafting standout applications at the Ivy League level.

Beyond academics, David has built an impressive career in the film and television industry. After several years in Boston, David attended graduate school, earning a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. USC is the world’s top-ranked film school and one of the most competitive programs––statistically harder to get into than Harvard Law School.

As a writer and director, David's award-winning films have been showcased at international festivals. He has also worked on globally recognized television franchises, including Star Trek for Paramount+. In 2024, his TV pilot was named to Hollywood’s prestigious Black List, celebrating the industry’s best un-produced scripts. Using his writing and storytelling talents, David teaches students to develop essays that are not only strategically effective but also captivating and memorable.

Raised in Chicago during the Michael Jordan era, David is an avid sports fan. He loves music, collects vinyl records, and formerly hosted a blues radio program on 95.3 WHRB in Boston. David also enjoys hiking with his wife, Jamie, and their dog, Humphrey Bogart (aka Bogie).
